Arisa has been finding a new form of expression in painting. Her new work, "Trilogy," depicts her personal journey with the devastation of her laryngeal dystonia diagnosis.
The first painting is called, "Stolen," and it represents the pain of losing her voice, which meant so much to her as an opera singer. The painting is 2D and represents the humanity of her struggle and pain. The two blue arms, reminiscent of hindu gods, shown strangling and stealing the figure's voice connotes the physical discomfort of the disorder and the helplessness of battling her fate as decided by the infinite, boundless, and all-pervading nature of the divine.

The second painting, called " Suffering meets the Divine," is where the figure begins to come to terms with her condition. Although she feels a gaping hole in her throat from being unable to sing and speak, there is a new healing beginning with the placement of the chakra stone (labradorite) on her throat, the lotus flower healing her heart chakra, and a new glow beginning in her third eye chakra.. The three healing elements take on a 3D form. |
The third painting is called, "Healed and Transformed." It is a depiction of hope for the future. The cosmic elements of the universe and the zooming out to see the whole body of the figure gleaming, no longer burdened by human suffering. The chakra stones are in 3D to represent her connection to the higher realm. The figure has transformed beyond the details of humanity, and has experienced enlightenment, peace, and awareness of her higher purpose.
